Green Boiler Technologies' Sellers Engineering brand manufactures a variety of boilers (both hot water and steam) and water heaters that use biogas as their primary fuel source. Biogas, or low BTU content methane gas, can be found in a variety of sources including anaerobic digestors in wastewater treatement plants, anaerobic digestors in large animal farms and landfills. Green Boiler Technologies (GBT), by modifying the original designs of Sellers Engineering's immersion fired product designs, can combust biogas in an efficient and reliable manner.

Wastewater treatment plants that use anaerobic digestors to treat their waste sludge can use the Sellers immersion fired design to produce "free energy" in the form of hot water or steam. Many customers using our biogas immersion fired boilers simply circulate the hot water through a heating loop in order to maintain optimal digestor temperatures. Other applications, however, include providing hydronic heating for their facilities or even potable water for nearby industry. The only limitations for using the biogas in applications beyond maintaining optimal digestor temperatures, are the BTU content (% methane per cubic foot) and the flow rate (cubic feet per minute). If enough quality biogas exists, wastwater treatment facilities can use the excess biogas for accomplishing digestor heating as well as hydronic heating, potable water or even combined heat and power generation (CHP). These benefits also exist for using Green Boiler Technologies' boilers and water heaters in conjuction with biogas generated by landfills or anaerobic digestors that use animal waste.
